Here's a list of several cliches that might infest your writing like the plague.

A: ace in the hole, agree to disagree, arm and a leg, as a result of, as luck would have it, at this point in time
B: back to square one, ballpark figure, beat around the bush, best foot forward, better late than never, big picture, born and raised, bottom line, boys will be boys, bull by the horns, by and large, busy as a bee
C: came out of thin air, caught my eye, caught red-handed, come out of the closet, cream of the crop, crossed my mind, cut and dried
D: dead as a doornail
E: each and every, easier said than done, easy as pie
F: facts of life, few and far between, first and foremost, first things first, fun and games
G: girls just wanna have fun, goes without saying
H: hard to believe
I: ignorance is bliss, in a flash, in a nutshell, in any way shape or form, in some cases, in the same boat, it’s safe to say
K: knock on wood
L: last but not least, law of the land, leaps and bounds, let me just say, light as a feather, like a sore thumb, long and short of it, long lost
N: needle in a haystack, no time like the present
O: off the deep end, off the wall, older and wiser, on the bandwagon, on the back burner, on the other hand, once and for all, one in a million, out of the blue
R: raining cats and dogs, rule of thumb, and run of the mill
S: scared to death, set the record straight, sigh of relief, silence is golden, sink or swim, small world, spitting image, start from scratch, striking resemblance
T: take the plunge, takes one to know one, that’s the way the cookie crumbles, the real McCoy, the same old story, these things happen, think outside the box, third time’s a charm, this day and age, this point in time, throw in the towel, time and time again, time will tell, tip of the iceberg, to begin with, to the best of my knowledge, tongue-in cheek, tough as nails, trials and tribulations, tried and true, twists and turns
U: under the gun, under the same roof, up his sleeve, up the wrong tree
W: welcome to the real world, what goes around comes around, what you see is what you get, when all is said and done, where the rubber meets the road, wrong side of the bed
Y: you are what you eat, you know what they say (how ironic)
